This is a power point that goes along with the story from the Scott Foresman Reading Street series "The Ch'i-lin Purse". The power point includes all of the vocabulary words with images to correspond with the definition. It also include a skill lesson over comparing and contrasting which is a tested skill for this story. There are a total of 15 slides in this power point. The first 10 slides provide the vocabulary term, definition, and an image to help the students make the definition more concrete. The eleventh slide gives students a close passage which will require them to use the vocabulary terms to complete the sentences. The 12 & 13th slides provide instruction for comparing and contrasting. The 14th slide gives students a passage to read and the 15th slide provides them with a graphic chart to compare and contrast the passage. The passage and the chart have been included in the preview file as a PDF. This will allow you to give groups, partners, or individuals the passages and chart to allow them to perform a close read before teaching and reinforcing the skill as a class.
