Reading Street Common Core 2013 First Grade Supplement for Book 5
These Spin, Read, & Write word game printables are designed to reinforce the AMAZING words used in Book 5 of the Reading Street Common Core reading series for Grade 1. This packet includes a word game for each of the 6 stories along with 5 High-Frequency BONUS PAGES.
Play is easy. First, the student predicts a winner, guessing which word he/she will spin the most. Then, using a pencil and a paper clip, the student spins the spinner, reads the word that he/she has landed on, and writes the word in the matching column. Play continues until a column is filled. The student writes the winning word on the side of the page. Was the prediction correct?
This game can be played individually, but partners are lots of fun! This activity makes a great literacy center. The students are so actively engaged in the game, that there are fewer interruptions during instruction of guided reading groups.
This packet helps the students practice vocabulary, spelling, reading, and handwriting as well as fine motor skills.
Game sheets are for the following first grade Reading Street Common Core (Book 5) stories:
· Tippy-Toe Chick, Go!
· Mole and the Baby Bird
· Dot & Jabber
· Simple Machines
· Alexander Graham Bell
· The Stone Garden
The other 5 pages use the high-frequency words included in the stories listed above.
Let the spinning begin!
