Reading Street Supplemental Resource for First Grade ~ AMAZING WORDS Game ~ Roll, Read, and Write ~ Word Work Activity
***You do not have to use the Reading Street series to enjoy these games.***
These Roll, Read, & Write Word Work printables are designed to reinforce the Amazing Words taught in the Pearson Scott Foresman Reading Street Series for Grade 1. This packet contains one game page for each story included in the series. Each printable contains 6 Amazing Words per story.
Play is easy. First, the student predicts a winner, guessing which word he/she will roll the most. Then, the student rolls a die, reads the word from that column, and writes the word neatly in that column. Play continues until a column is filled. The student fills in the winner on top. Was the prediction correct?
This game can be played individually, but partners are lots of fun! This activity works well as a literacy center. The students are so actively engaged in the game, that there are fewer interruptions during instruction of guided reading groups.
This packet covers one whole year!! Don’t miss out!
Game sheets are for the following Reading Street stories:
“Sam, Come Back!”, “Pig in a Wig”, “The Big Blue Ox”, “A Fox and a Kit”, “Get the Egg!”, “Animal Park”, “A Big Fish for Max”, “The Farmer in the Hat”, “Who Works Here?”, “The Big Circle”, “Life in the Forest”, “Honey Bees”, “An Egg is an Egg”, “Ruby in Her Own Time”, “Jan’s New Home”, “Frog and Toad Together: The Garden”, “I’m a Caterpillar”, “Where Are My Animal Friends?”, “Mama’s Birthday Present”, “The Dot”, “Mister Bones: Dinosaur Hunter”, “The Lady in the Moon”, “Peter’s Chair”, “Henry and Mudge and Mrs. Hopper’s House”, “Tippy-Toe Chick, Go!”, “Mole and Baby Bird”, “Dot and Jabber and the Great Acorn Mystery”, “Simple Machines”, “Alexander Graham Bell”, and “Ben Franklin and His First Kite”.
