Reading Street High Frequency Game OH, NO! Grade 1
Small Group Game –Exercise Theme
If you are looking for a fun high frequency word game that aligns with the First Grade Reading Street Common Core series, this may be for you!
Print cards on card stock paper, laminate, and cut. (You may wish to print multiple sets of cards to extend play.) Shuffle the cards and place them in a basket/bag/container.
How to Play:
Player 1 picks a card. If s/he reads the word correctly, s/he keeps it. If the word is read incorrectly, return the card to the pile. Play continues in the same manner with the next player. If a player picks a special card, s/he must follow the directions on the card. (Note: Do not return the special cards to the basket. Simply set them aside.) Play continues until all cards are gone, or the allotted time is up. The player with the most cards at the end of the game, wins
There are over 200 first grade high frequency word cards (Units R, 1 and 5 have 32 cards each, Units 2, 3, and 4 have 40 cards each) and 8 special cards per unit included in this game.
Note: I have also included some Bonus Cards that may be used to keep your students engaged. They involve a few fun exercise activities. Discard these cards if they are not suitable for your students or your classroom.
Please note that the high frequency words are grouped by units, not stories.
This works well as a small group game during centers. It is great for a review, too!
Memory Game (print 2 sets without the special cards)
Color and b/w versions included.
Thank you for stopping by!
