This great unit provides roll and read games for sight word practice with the words in the Reading Street First Grade Program (2013). The roll and read games will help improve a student’s sight word knowledge, provide practice reading the sight words in context, and boost fluency. There is one practice sheet for each of the 36 stories in the program. Each sheet contains six sentences. Each sentence has one of the week’s sight words in it. Teachers can preview each lesson by having the students find and highlight the sight word in each sentence. Then students will play with a partner, roll a die and read the corresponding sentence correctly. There is a chart at the bottom of each page to record a tally mark each time a given number is rolled. Don’t miss out on this collection of activities that make learning basic sight words much more fun!
