Reading Street Common Core Supplement ~ Grade 1 ~ SPIN A PHRASE! ~ Unit 5 ~ Partner Game
Do some of your students need some extra fluency practice? This partner game may be just what they need!
This fun game provides practice reading phrases found in Unit 5 of the First Grade Reading Street Common Core (2013) reading series. This download includes one game sheet for each of the following Unit 5 stories:
· Tippy-Toe Chick, Go!
· Mole and the Baby Bird
· Dot and Jabber
· Simple Machines
· Alexander Graham Bell
· The Stone Garden
Materials Needed: 1 game sheet per pair, 1 paperclip, 2 different colored crayons (one crayon per player), and 1 pencil
Directions: Using a paperclip and pencil, Player 1 spins the letter and number spinners. Player 1 locates that coordinate on the grid and reads the phrase in that box. If read correctly, the player colors the box. If read incorrectly, the player loses a turn. (If the box has already been colored in, the player loses a turn.) Player 2 continues in the same manner. Players take turns until all of the boxes are filled in. The winner is the player who has the most boxes at the end of the game.
This game makes a great, no-fuss literacy center!
