Reading Street Spelling Post Its resources for daily spelling practice, center work, and spelling games.
I placed these Reading Street Post Its on my classroom door. I took a cardboard picture frame and taped a clear plastic sleeve to the back of it. Each week I would change the sheet to correspond with my spelling words for that week.
Place 2 x 1 ½ Post It notes on the blank sheet provided (last sheet in the set). I used a variety of color each week to cue in on certain spelling patterns. Place this sheet in the paper bin of your computer making sure you have it going the right way of the way your computer prints. Bring up the spelling sheet you would like to print and hit print. The Post It sheet should come out with the words printed on them correctly. Note: If you do not to mess with the Post It notes you can just print out the words on colored paper or cardstock.
During the week we use these words in a variety of ways:
I have students read and spell a word to come in or leave the classroom.
I use them on the document camera for spelling drills and practice.
Students use them during center time to practice writing their spelling words
Students try to find these words in their reading books.
Students write sentences using these spelling words.
Students think of or find other words that have the same spelling pattern one of these words.
I am sure with your creative mind you can come up with many more ideas to use these Post Its! I just know they were very helpful with my students in learning their weekly words. I hope you enjoy them!
