Here is a packet with a list of student projects for each of the 6 weeks in unit 1 for grade 5. These are great for center work or literacy stations. It also connects the reading with the content areas.
Weekly lesson concepts help students connect the reading selections and the unit theme. Theme-related activities throughout the week provide opportunities to explore the relationships among the selections, the lesson concepts, and the unit theme.
This packet includes the cover page, credits page, Unit 1 inquiry project, inquiry project timetable, inquiry project rubric, three unit 1 wrap-up activities, and 2 weekly projects for each of the 5 weeks which allows for differentiation (a total of 10 weekly projects to choose from for weeks 1-5).
Most of the projects are aligned to the following standard:
CSS.ELA-Literacy.W.5.7 Conduct short research projects that use several sources to build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic.
Objectives of the three wrap-up activities which can be completed after week 5:
