This is Reading Street, Grade 5, Unit 4 Stories 1-5
Each story includes a 4-page organizer designed to go with the 2013 Common Core edition of Reading Street Each organizer follows a similar format:
-Page 1: Weekly focus with spelling and vocabulary words and a skill exercise.
-Page 2: Story-specific skill exercise
-Page 3: Language skill exercise
-Page 4: Text-based evidence questions (I use these as an assessment)
Also included with each story organizer is a Sentence Construction sheet. I use this sheet the first 3 days of each story to practice and reinforce the language arts skills for the present week and for previous weeks.
I print out an organizer for each student and give it to the kids the first day of the new story (usually on Monday.) We do page one on Monday, page 2 on Tuesday (the day that we read the story for the first time), page 3 on Wednesday or Thursday (after the second read), and page 4 as part of their reading assessment on Friday.
I have made organizers for each of the five stories in each of the six units for Reading Street. The Organizer/Sentence Construction set can be bought individually for each story, or in Unit bundles of five stories each.
My students have enjoyed the variety of the organizers, and I use the fourth page as an assessment instead of the test provided by Reading Street.
