These activities can be used as individual games, centers or small group activities. In each game the children are provided the opportunity to practice recognizing, reading, and writing each high-frequency word.
Dial Up: Find the number of each letter in the word on a phone and
Read it, Trace it, Rainbow Write it!
Roll a word: Roll a die and complete the activity given for a word.
Word Center: Children choose different writing tools to practice
writing each high-frequency word listed.
ZAP IT!: A fun small group game that reviews recognition and
writing of high-frequency words.
Sight Word Graph: Graphing each time the word is rolled is a great
way to review high-frequency words and
graphing all at the same time.
Word Hunt: Find the word and then record the word on the sheet.
Popcorn words in ABC order: Cut and glue the high-frequency
words in alphabetical order.
Memory Game: Fun card game for children to practice high
I Spy: Children spy the words in a bottle of rice and write the word
on the I Spy recording sheet.
