Included are picture cards that correspond with the Reading Street Sleuth Story "A Mentor For James". I use these every week at my small group center to introduce the story to my students and engage them. I learned about this idea in a CORE SIX training on high yield strategies for Common Core ELA implememtation. My students begin by sorting the picture cards in categories. While they are doing this they are required to explain why they sorted them the way they did. Then, they all have to make a prediction about what the story will be about and guess the title of the story.
