Included are all of the activities that you will need for six centers to reinforce “The Big Top”. This is a great supplement to your Reading Street Curriculum
There are many printables that can be used for review sheets, morning work, and fun activities Common Core Standards are listed for the Language Arts and Math activities. There are High-Frequency Cards and Amazing Word Cards that can be used for display or teaching tools. There are also High-Frequency Words to be used for your Word Wall.
Initial Sound Center –
Cut out pictures and glue in the correct initial sound box/
Color boxes correctly according to initial and final sound
Write the beginning sound
Color a hat by reading words correctly.
High-Frequency Word Center
Use cards with the high-frequency words as flashcards
Use play-doe to spell each word
Use letter stamps to spell each word
Color lollipops by reading High-Frequency words
Phonics Center –
Use a magnifying glass and search for words and then write the words
Listening Center –
After listening to “The Big Top” answer questions about the story. Questions are included that review the comprehension skills for the week
Writing Center –
Write the letters Dd , Hh, Ll, and Oo on lined paper.
Match Amazing Words to their picture and definition.
Cut out the Amazing Words and match them to a picture
Draw your favorite Amazing Word
Add capitals and periods to sentences
Highlight the group of words that is a sentence/ Draw your favorite sentence
(1) Subtract/ Write the letter to make words learned this week.
(2) Color a hundred's chart to find a short o word
(3) Read “The Big Top”/ Highlight short o words/ Write the words
(4) Word Search for words of the week
(5) Read words that we have learned this week to color the top
(6) Read “On Top”/ Highlight short o words/ Write the words.
