Reading Street Common Core Supplemental Resource for Grade 3 ~ Four & Score ~ Spelling Words, Challenge, and Vocabulary Partner Game
Are your kids ready for some fun? Well this partner game just might be the answer! “Four and Score” is a partner game that uses spelling, challenge, and vocabulary words found in the Reading Street Common Core Grade 3 Reading Series (Units 1, 2, and 3).
There is one game page for each of the 15 Reading Street Common Core stories included in Units 1-2-3 of this Scott Foresman 3rd grade reading series.
Play is simple. Each player chooses a different colored crayon/pencil to use throughout the game. Player 1 rolls the die. If an odd number is rolled, s/he traces over one line on the game board. If an even number is rolled, s/he traces over two lines on the game board. Player 2 continues in the same manner. When a player traces a line that closes a box, s/he must read the word aloud and then color that box. (Note: Before the game begins, the teacher should decide whether a student loses a turn or is given help with a word that is read incorrectly.) After all the lines have been traced, the player who has shaded in the most boxes wins the game. The winner colors the star next to her/his name.
A reminder sheet has also been included to help those students who have difficultly identify odd and even numbers. Some students may need to refer to this reminder sheet for the first couple of games.
One game sheet is included for each of the following Scott Foresman 3rd grade Reading Street Common Core reading stories:
· When Charlie McButton Lost Power
· What About Me?
· Kumak's Fish
· My Rows and Piles of Coins
· Penguin Chick
