Teachers will learn where students stand in terms of reading and how their early memories may have contributed to their enjoyment (or dislike) of reading today. This reading survey gives a little more insight than your typical survey. I learned very quickly the reading experiences of my students were very different from my own.
Just copy the double-sided survey, then have students share with the class their earliest memories of reading. This was the first activity we did in my remedial reading class, but it can be used for any language arts/English class where reading will take place!
