I’d describe this as a teacher organizer that can be used to model various reading “skills.” It’s a Smart Board Notebook file that has many reading traits/skills on the first page that hyperlink to each trait set up as its own page. So, for example, I can click on the “Infer” link on the first page and it takes me to its own “Inference” page in the file.
Why would you want this?
First, it has many common reading traits listed on the first page. It links to pages in the same file where you can record information from a text related to that trait. Of course, from that page, you have a link to take you back to the first (all traits) page.
Second, it’s a great way to record discussions and/or questions after reading a text together.
Third, it includes text and visual portrayals of the traits.
I’ve used this for two years now and not only is it a good visual for students, but it also keeps me on track in my reading program.
