This file includes two templates. The first is what I used as a menu from which my students could select activities during reading workshop. Inspired by the CAFE program, students were expected to complete at least two activities in each of the three categories--comprehension, writing, and word work--by the end of each week. The second page is the template I shared with my students as an example of how they were to record their work in their reading journals. I stapled this page onto the inside front cover of every journal. The menu and journal structures allowed all of my students to find success in reading workshop regardless of their reading abilities. Students enjoyed making choices, and they were proud of the work that they produced.
