Product Description
Teach your students in a way that allows for choice and differentiation in a Balanced Literacy teaching framework while still giving students meaningful instruction and a high level of support. This product contains ten ready-to-go minilessons for Reading Workshop. The minilessons were specifically designed to meet the Common Core State Standards for Key Ideas and Details: RL.7.1, RL.7.2, and RL.7.3. Once you purchase these minilessons, there will be little to no prep for you as a teacher in taking the minilessons into your classroom to teach them.

Each of the ten minilessons includes:

*An overview of the minilesson with the teacher instructions on how to execute the lesson.

*Book talk slide

*Minilesson statement slide (Example: "Readers select the most important events in a story that move the action forward so that they understand how one part of the plot affects the other.”)

*Modeling slide: I used Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt to model all of the minilesson concepts using a fiction text to give students an idea of how they could apply the minilesson concept to their independent reading.

*Have-a-go slide: Students get a chance to try out the minilesson concept with teacher support (guided practice). This allows for a gradual release of responsibility from modeling (teacher support) to independent practice.

*Application slide: Students are given directions on how to apply the minilesson concept to their independent reading.

*Application handout: Printable handouts that clearly lay out the minilesson application for students are included for each minilesson.

*Share slide: Each minilesson ends with asking students to share out what they have learned that day as readers.

These minilessons geared directly toward meeting the CCSS are a perfect tool for teachers wanting to use Balanced Literacy, Gradual Release of Responsibility, whole group, small group, and individualized instruction, and Reading Workshop. Whether you're a beginner to these concepts or someone who knows a lot about them, this product will be a great resource for teachers on every end of the spectrum.

In addition to the ten minilessons, the product also includes:
-Minilesson Application Grading Rubric
-Interactive Read Aloud Tips
-An organization template to help you use formative assessment to drive differentiated instruction
