Prior to students having successful partnerships in their day to day reading workshop, they need to be explicitly taught what a partnership looks like, sounds like, and how to have conversations. This unit does exactly that. The unit has a three categories that it has the potential of addressing depending on your class needs. There are mini lesson choices connected to the set up of partnerships, the speaking and listening of the partnership, and the readerly life of a partnership. There are also 8 written out, following the architecture of a mini-lesson, reading workshop mini-lessons for establishing successful partnerships in the classroom. There are also ideas for anchor charts and active engagement support materials as well in this unit.
The 8 lessons have been aligned to the Common Core by a 2014 Eastern Michigan School of Education Student Teacher.
