Reading and Creating line plots can be a difficulty skill but with this hands on lesson your students will build life sized line plots based on measurement to the 1/2 inch. This pack includes both whole group lessons as well as additional line plot practice that can be completed individually, in a small group or as homework.
The general outline of each lesson is as follows:
✖ Students create a ruler, at first labeling whole inches but, as lessons progress, adding 1/2 inches and 1/4 inches as well.
✖ After completing the ruler work for the day, students are given pictures of flowers to measure. After measuring the flowers, students post their picture to a full class line plot.
✖ Pictures are then replaced with an "x" so that the line plot looks more traditional.
✖ Following the whole group lesson, students are given a smaller problem set to measure with their ruler and then create a line plot on paper.
This set includes all of the lesson instructions, flower pictures and worksheets you will need to complete these explorations.
