Being able to locate ce, ci and cy within a word and knowing that the vowel has changed the sound of the consonant c will enable children to decode many more words than ever before! This powerpoint slideshow with animation/movement provides an explanation of the sounds these letters make, practice reading words containing these letter pairs and practice reading sentences containing multiple words with those sounds. The slideshow could really be three lessons long - introduction to concept, practice reading words, and practice reading words within sentences. It can easily be used on the SmartBoard for more student interaction in a small or large group.
