Reading for meaning and fluency. Answer comprehension questions to show understanding of the text.

This resource includes 20 poems presented in a one-page format for beginning readers. Each poem is read for meaning and fluency and is included with comprehension questions to check for understanding and meaning. These pages are appropriate for Kindergarteners who are reading, 1st graders and homeschoolers who are practicing fluency.

Making reading enjoyable is the focus and at the same time providing easy check questions to explain and write about the meaning of the poem. Also included are the poems on half-sheets. You can easily use these for practice with reading fluency. Teacher tips are included.

**These pages work well for a substitute teacher.

Poems are chosen to engage, motivate and enjoyment. a poem review page is also included that you could use with any poem...also a fun activity to use when improving reading fluency and signs to label your poetry bins [many to choose from].
