This game came about while I was trying to find a fun way to help my 7th grade ESL students practice their reading comprehension skills, particularly in relation to idioms and vocabulary.
Game Overview: The game begins with the group reading the included passage together. Then, the Icing on the Cake answer cards are distributed to each player. One player becomes the first Baker and reads a Piece of Cake question card aloud to the group. (Half of the questions focus on vocabulary while the other half focus on general comprehension skills.) The students then submit one of their Icing on the Cake cards for consideration as the correct answer. If they are correct, they win the Piece of Cake card. The player with the most Pieces of Cake at the end of the game wins!
Ideally 3-4 players
