Phonics is the method for teaching reading and writing by developing a learner's phonemic awareness. But learning phonics with so many rules can be difficult since people process information differently.
Some students have no trouble processing symbols. Others, however, learn best with a hands-on approach. This resource will take you through the basic phonics sounds and rules using pictures to help the learner associate the phonics rules and special sounds using picture cues built right into the letters. The unique thing about this phonics program is that the clues create the sounds. For example, ar says "arrr" like a pirate, so the ar picture clue looks like a pirate.
This book was designed for:
Children just learning to read
Special Education Students
Right Brain Learners
Here's how it works:
You will need to teach one phonics skill at a time. That should be followed by the flashcards. Finally, your student should read the Reader included.
For example, teach the Sneaky E rule; let your child read the flashcards; let your child read the book containing sneaky e words.
Suggested teaching practice if using for new readers:
Day 1 Teach the phonics skill using the picture cues
Day 2 Review the phonics skill and let your child read the flashcards
Day 3 Review the phonics skill; review the flashcards; read the book
Day 4 Review the phonics skill; review the flashcards; re-read the book
Day 5 Review previously taught skills
Suggested teaching order if using for remediation:
Day 1 Teach the phonics skill and let your child read the flashcards
Day 2 Review the phonics skill; review the flashcards; read the book
The Readers (Little Books):
The books are designed so that they build on each other. Each book contains works using the concept that has newly been taught, in addition to words containing rules that have previously been taught.
For example, the first book contains short vowel words. The second book contains consonant digraphs AND short vowel words. The third book contains sneaky e words, short vowel words, and consonant digraphs.
This program works! I've personally used it to teach my own daughter and ESL students that I tutor. In addition, I have been getting great feedback from customers since it was first introduced. I hope that it will help your students; after all, "reading IS for everyone!"
FYI...I've recently added Spelling is for Everyone, and add-on to this program. I am currently working on Writing is for Everyone. In addition, I have Math is for Everyone for sale here on TpT.
