Reading Log-Journal for Comprehension with Rubric on Each Page
Use some of the pages or all of the pages!
The comprehension journal contains pages for
Before Reading, After Reading, Literal, Reflection, Interpretation, metacognitive awareness, Goals and Self-Assessment, pages for fiction and non-fiction books.
*Each of the pages has a "bookmark" with a rubric for students to use to remind them of criteria based on reading assessments such as DRA2. (The rubric should be discussed with the student so that they understand the criteria and there are no misconceptions.)
*Fiction Pages have RF M F TL SF HF coding system at the bottom of each page for students to circle which genre they are reading. (realistic fiction, mystery, fantasy, etc..)
Non Fiction Pages have Non-Fiction HF B AB I (historical fiction, biography, etc..)
*To distinguish between Fiction pages and Non-Fiction, there are different bookworms associated with each page and the Genre coding is colored either green for non-fiction or blue for fiction.
*One page is a Book review- print as many of the Book Reviews as you would like your students to complete or students can add pages to their journal as needed. The book review has place for one book per page, (students can record the Title, Author, Genre, Date Started, Date Completed)
My Rating with 5 Stars (shade in 1-5 stars), and a place to write a short review for others or for students to keep in their journal.
*One page contains Different Genre Descriptions for fiction and non-fiction.
*A simple Graphic Organizer is included to print and add as needed as well as blank lined pages for notes any other information.
*Also included are Literal and Interpretation pages with blank question fields for you to fill in specific questions about the book/story the student is reading.
*Last but not least, a simple Reading Log page is included.
There is a total of 29 pages.
