Geography shapes destiny.
This activity has students explore the world to understand the location of major land features, as well as the number of native domesticable plants and domesticable large mammals in each region of the world.
The students will then use these data filled maps to complete a chart, where they will then evaluate each region to determine where people will settle and where agriculture will take root. This data can also be used to make predictions for where people will successfully build large societies and which regions are doomed to be hunters and gatherers.
Understanding Earth lays a vital foundation for any world history or geography/human geography class.
