This is a group project/presentation assignment designed for high school-higher education aged students to evaluate the novel "Ready Player One" over two presentation dates (college). Teams will be assigned chapters and be given roles to guide Literary Circle class discussions in analyzing the novel’s ethical leadership themes according to concepts discussed in class. Students will further make connections to current issues and events by applying chapter readings to relevant ethical leadership issues beyond the classroom.
Activity can accommodate anywhere from 6 to 36 students (with six groups of 1 to 6 roles per group - an ideal number is 4). Each of the six possible roles have been given a guide to get them started with some initial instructions, but groups are encouraged to be creative and roles are open to the individual’s interpretation in terms of how to approach preparation/presentation. This should be a collaborative effort and groups will be evaluating each individual member on her/his contribution to the work product and this can affect student’s individual grades. Final presentations should be 30-40 minutes in length and each member of the group should participate equally.
Package includes: Planning sheets for six groups, role descriptions for six roles, Instructor Evaluation Rubric, Peer Evaluation Rubric, and Group Member Evaluation for students to evaluate their team members' contributions.
