I know personally how difficult teaching an entire NOVEL can be... The hardest part is always getting started. AM I RIGHT? So here is a little suggestion from a fellow teacher.
During this cycle students will question who holds the power in their lives and within society. After this 1st weeks students should learn about Dystopia, symbolism, allegory, allusions, and archetypes. Ultimately they should be able to connect how an author uses the setting to influence the character and the overarching theme or a story.
During week 2 students will conduct an analysis of each character in the novel. Students will use the STEAL technique the analyze the behavior and mindset of WADE WATTS.
