This is the most fun your students will have in your classroom all year! Transport them back into the 80's with this exciting, interactive lesson. With so may 80's references in the novel, this helps give students a solid background in some of those references, aiding in overall comprehension of the novel.
What you will need:
1. This bundle which included 3 different stations directions pages (links included) and an accompanying worksheet with higher order thinking questions for each station.
2. A SMARTBOARD or overhead projector hooked up to a computer. (for movie or music station)
2. Another computer /laptop/iPad for separate station (for movie or music station)
3. A TV with a gaming console- we bought a mock Atari at Walmart that included 2 joysticks and hundreds of 80's games for $50. (for video game station)
*Even if you don't buy the video game station, the music and film stations and worksheets are extremely valuable*
We put students in groups and have them rotate, spending about 20 minutes at each station. I have also done this with lower-level students as a whole class participation. I show each video, etc.. then we discuss questions as a class. You can conduct the lesson any way you wish!
We give extra credit to any student who dresses up in 80's attire for the day, and we dress up ourselves! We play 80's tunes while they enter the room/while they are transitioning. It's a fun day to be had by all!
