This document can be used before or after lab activities to measure student learning. Formative assessments used before labs will address key concepts that the students will need to keep in mind as they are conducting the lab, and also address the concepts that students anticipate they will be struggling with. Formative assessments used after labs will summarize key concepts that the student should have obtained from conducting the lab, and also address concepts that students struggled with. This information can be used to review concepts that students struggled with, allowing for modifications in delivery, pacing, and amount of instruction given either before or after the lab has been completed.
