These are some printables that I hope you can use in your classroom as you begin introducing readers workshop, guided reading, literacy stations, The Daily Five, or whatever reading instruction you choose to implement in your classroom with your new readers! The first two are meant to be used after reading Mark Teague and Jane Yolen's sweet little book "How do Dinosaurs Learn to Read" which discusses how to take care of books, and how to try your best and not give up!
There are lined pages for students who are able to write at the beginning of the year, and also printables with space for early readers (and writers) to draw/label what good readers look like, etc.
If you are using The Daily Five...there are printables to go along with each of the five categories. These would work great after doing a mini lesson or creating an I-chart with your students for them to articulate what they know and what they are learning in a concrete way.
Happy Teaching to you!
