This download is to use with the Kindergarten ReadyGen Unit A: Module B lessons about Life in a Pond. The book Life in a Pond is a non-fiction book. In these slides, you will find a review of non-fiction story elements that are age-appropriate including pictures to support the vocabulary words. I had my students act out the vocabulary words when possible. For example, bloom like a flower required the children to spread their arms above their heads. Dive like a duck for insects required them to pretend to dive underwater. The students loved acting out the vocabulary words. The kinesthetic movement helped them to remember what the words meant. Also included in these lessons are the reading and writing focus, essential questions, read aloud questions, and interactive games. I included a random word generator so that students are actively engaged during a read aloud. The student who's name is selected must answer a question regarding the read aloud. There are "Writing in Response to Reading" pages as well. You will notice that for the most part, the lessons follow this pattern: Reading, Writing in Response to Reading, and Writing. Our students usually write twice a day. The first time, the writing is directly related to the story they have heard. The second time is applying their writing to another text or outside connection. This unit introduced the students to nouns, adding -s, and adding -es. Please see the ReadyGen Teacher's Guide for complete lesson plans. This is just to be used to support the curriculum. Do not use these lessons for Undergraduate/Graduate school work, observations, or any situation that requires you to receive all credit for the work. Thank you and enjoy!
