Students create a fictional avatar and complete a financial real life task once per week. Task examples include getting a part time job, saving for post-secondary education, buying gifts, paying bills like cell phones and car insurance.
Making wise financial decisions earns students points, poor decisions loses points. The goal is to compete and have the most points at the end of the game.
Students love this game because it makes math fun and clearly shows how math skills can be applied to the real world. Parents love the game because it gets their child talking about finances and asking good questions at home about bills.
When you have finished this edition or if you teach the same students next year please see the intermediate edition that was added. It is more complex and longer (37 objectives)
32 activities, done once a week for about 30 minutes
