This function rule activity can be arranged to be as interactive as you would like.
The first page is the recording sheet, where students will get practice writing function rules from word problems.
The following 4 pages have duplicated copies of the 4 world problems. You can do a folder pass, stations, or a row blitz, where each row or table gets a certain amount of time with the cards. It depends on your classroom setup and management style, adapt this activity to you and your kids' needs!
Identifying constants and coefficients in word problems, writing direct or indirect variation functions from that (y = kx or y = mx + b), writing x values and plugging them into an equation to get a y value, making ordered pairs from that information, graphing the ordered pairs, and answering analysis questions.
I made this activity a competition among my higher achieving classes, and a self-monitoring activity for my struggling classes. Enjoy!
