This activity is designed to put some context into teaching linear equations and their graphs. Too often students are simply taught y=mx + b without much emphasis on why it matters. This activity consist of four problems: 1. population growth comparison 2. rental car comparison 3. cell phone plan comparison 4. no interest for 12 month loan payment plan. The student must answer various question concerning the graph of these linear relationships. The student is asked to develop the equation from the graph. In one problem, the student must complete a table and graph the function.
