This activity has nine questions and includes two types of answer keys. Students are expected to use percents to solve real-world word problems to buy items for a home. Students will need to find percent off, sales tax, simple interest, percent from commission, and even unit rate. Once the students find the answers to the word problems, they are given two answers: one answer is correct, and one is a type of common misconception. Once students pick the correct answer, they have to add that object to their dream home. For example, problem number one has the student buying roofing materials. Their answers will have them drawing a roof to their home, either a triangle or a trapezoid. Students need to know that for some of the answers, they need to be rounded to the nearest hundredth. Students will have fun enjoying this engaging and exciting activity. It could be used for a homework assignment, a class work assignment, or even as a quick assessment tool.
