In the role of an unfortunate student who has broken his ankle before field day, students become the one empowered to declare the winner of 4 field day events. Each event includes times in decimals. Students need to order decimals, estimate with decimals, average decimals, and round decimals to determine the winner of the events. In the last event, students choose the method for determining the winner and write a mathematical argument defending their choice. Great practice for the Smarter Balanced assessments as well as a possible extension for students looking for more of a challenge in working with decimals.
