I've learned with middle school math students they do better when what they're learning can be applied to the real world. Therefore, for unit rates I went to the store and took several pictures of different items and prices for them to compare. I posted the pictures around the room and they had to get up and go to each picture and work out the answer. So, this was a way for them to get up and move and see a true example of something they will have to use someday in their own lives. It includes 10 questions with 10 corresponding pictures such as of a receipt to find the price per pound of fruit or the price for one Clorox wipe, etc. The pictures are approximately a 1/2 page in size but are in PDF format for easy printing and copying.
