Student Accountability as well as ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS are also addressed!
Some sources of research seem to indicate that most students need a significant amount of structure/organization in order to function effectively and efficiently at their highest level, so I have included a printable student answer document with numbered workspaces to assist you in assessing student accountability when working in small groups (or whenever a less structured environment is implemented.)
The student answer document is also an important accountability component- as teachers, we know that not all students are motivated to use their time wisely. These concrete visual work documents remind students, as they work in less structured settings (centers, small groups, or even independently) that the amount of effort put into their work can easily be assessed by the teacher--at a glance!
These types of documents are also excellent for math portfolios or as examples of student achievement at parent-teacher conferences.
Since these task cards are aligned to CCSS standards, they can also be used as assessment pieces if preferred.
These task cards can be used in the following ways as:
math journal work
as tasks for small collaborative learning groups
as whole class activities on the whiteboard
I have found that you can never have too many of these kinds of activities. My students love them!
