I conduct this Common Core writing activity with my students to give them an opportunity to receive feedback from someone outside the classroom. When students write for a real world audience, their writing improves. After conducting and interest survey and a writer's conference, students write blog entries over an extended period of time. In my classroom, we do it for four to six weeks. This unit contains student handouts, a rubric, targeted CCSS, links to examples of effective student blogs, and advice/lessons learned for teachers who are interested in implementing this unit.
