This product is a set of 24 flash cards that describe real-life scenarios that match one of six types of mathematical functions.
Students take turns identifying which function (linear, quadratic, exponential, absolute value, radical, or rational) best represents the scenario on the card.
The first time through, the students might have to run some calculations and graph the results or create an equation that matches the description to determine which function corresponds with the scenario.
The student should record the titles, such as, “Cell Phones increasing” with the matching function on a sheet of paper as evidence that they matched the scenarios to the function.
This is a quick way to review some math functions and to relate them to real life.
