Have you ever had a moment with your students and realized that they did not recognize the difference between real and pretend? I had one of those moments and knew I needed to do something about it. Naturally I hit up my go to's - TPT, Pinterest, special education blogs. Soon, I was pulling my hair out looking for resources!
That's when I sat down and decided I would make a unit myself. This resource was used as a month long social studies unit in my self-contained classroom. I usually teach social studies three times a week, so for those who teach each day, it will be shorter than a month. From pretest to postest, this unit has students using notebooks, graphic organizers, and even photo filters! :)
