In this game of ¡Pesca!, otherwise known as, “Go Fish!”, it is specifically made for the “¿Quieres ir conmigo?” vocabulary unit from Realidades 1 (4B). In this set, there are Spanish and matching English vocabulary words and phrases. There are also three additional blank cards in each set for you to add your own vocabulary words.
In groups of 3 to 5 students, students will play together to find matches of the vocabulary words/phrases. Each student begins with 5-7 cards depending on the number of players. The conversation that can between the game players to reinforce using the Spanish language could go like this:
Student A asks Student B:
• “Yo tengo la palabra “contigo.” ¿Tienes “with me”?”
Student B says either:
• Sí, yo tengo “with me” (and gives them their card)
• No, yo no tengo “with me” (and tells the other) ¡Pesca!
When the player says, “pesca” the other player needs to draw from the center deck of cards, just like in “Go Fish!” The goal is to get rid of the cards in your hand first or to end the game the greatest number of pairs.
