This is an activity that gets kids up and moving, talking to other students in Spanish, and practicing the verbs in Realidades 1 chapter 1A. This takes approximately 40 minutes, including explanation and writing the paragraph (depending on the kids and how long you play the music, etc.)
In order to do this activity, you need desks arranged so that kids can pair up, music that you can play and stop like musical chairs (I use salsa), and a vocab list for each student (unless they've already memorized the verbs).
Students will walk around during the music like musical chairs, sit with a new partner each time the music stops, ask each other what they like to do or what they don't like to do, and write it down. At the end, they will write a paragraph about what they found out about their classmates. Because beginning Spanish students tend to do as much as they can in English, I'd suggest that you emphasize to them that they need to do all of the asking and answering in complete Spanish sentences.
