This translation practice features 12 sentences (in English) that the students must then translate into Spanish using a combination of the imperfect progressive and irregular preterite. For example, it might say something like, "We were studying when I had to leave." Estábamos estudiando cuando (yo) tuve que salir. Specifically, the preterite verbs I included are decir, traer, tener, poner, venir, hacer, and ir. This could be a classwork or a homework assignment (or even a really challenging quiz for a higher level / Honors class)!
I created this activity for use with Realidades 2 curriculum, so a lot of the vocabulary comes from the Realidades 1/2 textbooks. But, that being said, the vocabulary is pretty basic and could be easily modified to be more in line with your textbook, if you don't use Realidades. Enjoy!
