Use these two classroom activities to get students speaking and writing in Spanish. I use these with the Realidades 1 Chapter 3B vocabulary and grammar, but they could be used with any curriculum.
The first activity is an interview activity in which students will:
*Read and understand "Yo" statements about food and exercise
*Determine whether the statements are Cierto o Falso for themselves
*Orally turn the statements into questions, asking their partner for their responses
*Write a short paragraph comparing their responses to their partner's responses
The second activity I do as a whole class, but could be used individually or in partners as well. Students become "Nutritionists" for the day and they meet five patients with different concerns. Students will:
*Read about each patient's concern (brief description)
*Use the verb DEBER to give health-related advice to help each patient
*Be creative, recycle previously learned vocabulary and be encouraged to vary their sentence structure
I am always impressed with how well my students can write their comparison paragraphs from the interview activity and my students LOVE and get very engaged in the nutritionist activity!
