Students are introduced to the preterite tense (regular verbs) from a natural approach. They see examples of the tense in sentences and using their prior knowledge of how conjugation works, they determine the preterite endings. The practice is scaffold. First they match subjects with example sentences. Second, they translate sentences from English that includes their vocabulary.
