This is a GREAT game to get kids reviewing their A ver si recuerdas vocabulary and is super fun for the kids!
Divide the class into three to four teams, and divide your whiteboard into three or four sections (one area per group). Have the first person from each team go to the board and pick up a whiteboard marker.
Say an English word/phrase, and the students at the front race to be the first to write it correctly. The first student to write it gets a point for his/her team!
However, instead of keeping track of points with boring tally marks, students keep track by drawing a turtle at the top of their team’s whiteboard section. Each point is worth one body part:
1st point = turtle shell
2nd point = turtle head
3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th points = turtle legs
7th and 8th point = turtle eyes
9th point (optional) = turtle tail
10th point (optional) = turtle smile
The first team to complete their turtle wins!
Model how to draw the turtle while explaining directions.
Also, if students are ever stuck while standing at the board, give them some hints until someone gets the answer.
