In this product, students will examine the reasons for colonization by categorizing them according to the Political, Economic, Religious, and Social reasons (PERS). This hands on group activity will get your students talking and working together. 12 reason cards will be cut up and students will categorize them according to the PERS.
Acronyms are a great way to help our students remember information. Raise the level of information by using PERS as the reason for exploration and colonization. Most students follow the old school idea of "Gold, God, and Glory." PERS introduces students to the facts of Political, Economic, Religious, and Social.
After charting students will evaluate what they believe is the most likely reason for colonization and the least likely reason for colonization.
