For this assignment, students will have read the Greek myth "Origins of the Seasons" (there is a close read activity available for purchase in my TPT store)
Students will then read an informational text that explains the scientific reason for the four seasons. They will then complete the contrast chart which will ask them to summarize the myth and the article, create 3 symbols that represent each text, and then complete a guided contrast paragraph.
* I like to copy the blank contrast chart on larger paper, so the students have more space to write/draw their symbols.
Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text; provide an objective summary of the text.
Compare and contrast a fictional portrayal of a time, place, or character and a historical account of the same period as a means of understanding how authors of fiction use or alter history.
