Activity 1 Syllable Reduction—2, 3 & 4 syllables
Students select a card and imitate or spontaneously produce the word. The card is placed on the corresponding mat that matches the number of syllables in the word.
Activity 2 Syllable Reduction—2, 3 & 4 syllables
Student chooses a basketball, say the word and throw the ball on the correct basket. If you prefer, students can throw the basketball cards into a small baseball hoop such as the ones pictured (Hoops are not included in this packet.)
Activity 3 Consonant Cluster Reduction—Minimal Pairs
Print the page with no lines on the reverse side of the corresponding picture cards. These are the minimal pairs.
Option 1 A student chooses a card and says both words of the minimal pair. If one word is correctly produced, a token is moved ahead one space on the game board. If both words are correctly produced, the token is moved ahead 2 spaces.
Option 2 A student chooses a card and says word containing the consonant cluster. If correctly produced, a token is moved ahead 2 spaces on the game board. If one of the sounds in the cluster are omitted, the student moves their token back one space.
